I have a friend at work whose daughter teaches 5th grade. She wanted a winter door hanger for her classroom so I made this for her. This was a fun one!

X-Mas Cards (2 Sketches 4 You) + Give Thanks!

Yesterday, I finally sat down and figured out how many cards I need that are extra special for close family and friends(haven't done those yet) and how many I need for those that aren't as close. I'm making several of these for friends and people at work! I used the Cutting Cafe (see link to the right of the blog) Bingo Cards. I used paper that I got last year and ribbon that I had gotten on sale at Michael's or had in my stash. I embellished with penguins or the metal holiday wishes. Both were in my stash. The penguins I got in the summer at Michael's for 49 cents on clearance! Glad I'm using them and didn't just lose them in my stuff! Thanks Laura for a great sketch!

I'm also including a Thanksgiving door hanger I made for a friend of mine to give to her daughter who teaches school! I used a card patterns sketch but it is way past the week when it was posted! I used both quickutz and the cricut on this one!

Have a great turkey day!

Gobble Card - 2 Sketches 4 You

I got some new printable stamps from the Cutting Cafe (see my blog list on the right for a link to the site - very cool stuff!) and I used the 2 Sketches 4 You sketch and some paper I've had around here for awhile. Not totally happy with it but it was a quick card!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Card Patterns #89 - Kayla's Birthday Card

Shaina needed a birthday card for a party she is going to today. We had bought this cute felt bag to put the gift card in and she wanted something to match. I used scraps of paper and quickutz for the 13 and sizzlets for the cupcake and gift! The circles were cut with the cricut!

Have a great week!

WELCOME - 2 Sketches 4 You

I used this week's sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You (rotated) to make a little Welcome door hanger. I had quite some fun last weekend making some "designer" owls with my sizzix (they are on chipboard) and so they came in handy to make this! All the paper is Basic Grey! Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Baby Card using card patterns #81

I was asked to make a card for a guy at the office who is having a baby girl. The colors of the baby's room are pink and yellow so I tried to coordinate the card with the room! I had all this great baby paper that I had gotten in DCWV paper stacks so it was fun to finally use it!

Card Patterns Sketch #80

My neighbor across the street, Allie, is going to be going to Oregon State University later this month! She watered my plants when we went on vacation to Texas so when I paid her and gave her a handmade card to thank her she loved it. I told her if she told me all the names of her roomates in her dorm I would make her a door hanger! She brought me over the list just as I was looking at card patterns #80 so here it is!!! I got this bohemian paper at Michaels and then embellished with what I had! I haven't given it to her yet so don't know what she will think!

Thanks for Looking!

2S4Y - Laura's Sketch week of 8/23/10

I made 2 items with Laura's sketch - both "decor" sort of things, not cards. The first is a door hanger that I will put on my office door and the other a 12 X 12 canvas that I have in my entry way to my house. I've had the blank canvas sitting there for months just waiting for inspiration and here it was with Laura's sketch. Thanks Laura!

Guy Cards, Thank You's, and starting Texas Scrapbooks!!!

I've been home from vacation about a week ~ getting caught up at work and home so this weekend had some time to be creative (and I needed it!!!). The first 2 cards are done using Card Patterns Sketch #74. Both use Graphic 45 paper. The first one (the golf one) is for a guy at work. I don't usually just use white cards with nothing behind them, but the dark greens were hard to figure out what I would do. This graphic 45 paper is pretty cool because it has different "guy" like scense on it ~ golf, pool, cars, tennis, etc!

I made the wine bottle card using Basic Grey paper and the shadow for the wine bottle and glass from the summer in paris cricut cart. A guy in my office is quite the wine enthusiast and I thought it would be fun to make a wine card. Hope the flowers aren't too feminine!! He does really enjoy the cards I make so I'm sure he won't mind.

I started my Texas scrapbooks (see below) and suddenly was inspired to make a birthday card for another man in my office who is from Texas ~ his birthday isn't till next March or April but for once I'm ahead of the game!!!

I also needed a bunch of thank you cards for work for a project that a group finished. I used 2 Sketches 4 you sketch from last week (but didn't post these cards) as a guide and used up many of my scraps. I actually made 17 of them and this is just an assortment of a few of them!

Last but not least, I started getting the Texas scrapbooks ready ~ For once in my life I'm pretty organized on this. I've got the pages sketched out on a piece of paper and knew I would need 2 scrapbooks for the trip (and I'm making 3 sets, one for me and one for each of my kids!). I had these tapestry albums in my stash (enough to do all 6 books!) so the first thing I worked on was the little window thing. Usually I wait till I'm all done but this time I decided to tackle it first thing! More to come on these books!
Thanks for looking and have a great week!

Class Door Hanger - Card Patterns #73

A gal in my office has a daughter who is a 5th grade teacher. She loves all my little door hangers I hang on my office door, so she asked me to make one for her daughter's class. I saw the sketch for card patterns #73 and thought it would work great! All the school die cuts are quickutz and the "Mrs. Elliot's Class" is cricut don juan! Thanks for looking!

Retirement Card (2S4Y - Laura's Sketch #55)

I know at least 3 people retiring in the next 2 months so Laura's Sketch #55 allowed me to use some scraps and make a cute card that could be used for retirement or another happy event where congratulations are in order. The happy for you is from the cricut cartridge "just because cards" and also used fabulous and enjoy from the Wild Card Cartridge for some of the others I made. Now I will have a little stash so I'm ready! Thanks for the great sketch Laura!

Card Patterns #69 - Birthday cards

I used card patterns #69 to make some birthday cards. I made them a little different (and used up some of my scraps!). I've got bigger pictures of each one below!

The cake is from the Summer in Paris cricut cartridge and cut at about 4.5 inches. I tried doing it smaller but it is very intricate!

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

60th Birthday Card (2 Sketches 4 You)

I used Laura's Sketch #54 to make a 60th birthday card for a party I'm going to next week. I wanted to make something that wasn't traditional so I used the "so last year" from the Cricut Forever Young cartridge. I had paper in my stash that I used (it is for a man so I didn't want to to be too cutesy!).

Happy Father's Day (Card Patterns #68)

I used card patterns sketch #68 to make a card for my dad! I put a little bling on it (hopefully that will be okay).

I also wanted to share a card I used Card Patterns Sketch #67 on for graduation! Even though I never make the super 6, the sketches give me inspiration!

Card Patterns #67 - Bee Happy!

This is a door hanger ~ not a card! I found the the bees and the bee happy on one of the new cricut cartridges and just had to use it. I've had the buzzz paper for years as it came in a DCWV summer stack years ago. A perfect match! And card patterns sketch #67 was the perfect template to use! Thanks for looking!

Card Patterns Sketch 61 - Birthday Party Invitations

I used the card patterns sketch #61 to make my son's 13th b-day party. We are going to the paintball place! I decided to make them look very colorful!

Thanks for looking!

2 Sketches 4 You - Administrative Professionals Day!

I used Laura's Sketch #50 to make Sue, my administrative professional a card! I had gotten these cute doves with hearts at Michaels on clearance and they just seemed like her - so calm and sweet. I used the color scheme from them to dictate the colors of the card. We are getting her flowers and a gift card and taking her to lunch tomorrow!

Thanks for taking a look!

Card Patterns #58 - Patriotic Door Hanger

I made a 7 X 9 door hanger using card patterns #58. The patriotic banner on the top is from cricut Stand and Salute cartridge, God Bless is from the Beyond birthdays cartridge and the america is from the mini monograms cartridge. I have a lot of patriotic paper in my stash! The little owl is made with quickutz dies! (I love owls so sometimes I stick one in and since america is 7 letters and I needed one more thing to make 8, he was perfect!).
Have a great weekend!

2 Sketches 4 You and Pink Elephant

I turned Kazan's sketch #48 to make some Christmas cards! I know it is early but my new year's resolution was not to be stressed out about x-mas cards in December! The paper is all a me and my big ideas x-mas paper pack. Die cuts are all cricut!

I used the 2 Sketches 4 You bonus sketch this week to create a spring door hanger (spring was the Pink Elephant Challenge this week). I had so much fun with it. I got the new spring glitter stack from DCWV and used coordinating paper from it. The bird house and the S are cut using the cricut songbird cartridge (lovin' it!). pring! are from Don Juan. I made the flowers using a technique I discovered in the recent issue of creating keepsakes. It was very fun. The butterfly is from the floral department at Michael's (a clearance item).
Thanks for taking a peak!

Christmas and St. Patrick's Day!

I know! Christmas and St. Patrick's day - what do they have in common! Nothing except I finished 2 things yesterday! One was my goal to do 10-15 Christmas cards each month so when I get to December I'm not stressed out!

I used Card Patterns #55, Bo Bunny paper (the santa), and Basic Grey Fruit Cake paper along with some buttons and ribbon I've had in my stash for quite some time to make some cards. These cards satisfied my committment to myself for February (I didn't do any in February) and little for March!

My next project is one I've worked on for a couple weeks now. I had had St. Pat day pictures taken (or I took them) every year for quite some time to make cards. I found this really cool board book and paper kit from Little Yellow Bicycle and decided to go through all those pictures and create sort of keepsake of st. pat pictures. I made 3 of these books ~ one for me, one for my daughter, and one for my son!

The little kit of paper is so cool because it is cut to the shape of the board book (each page is a little different shape). There are also extra pieces of paper so you can back your pictures and some little stickers to embellish with (like the Lucky Me on the cover). I added a few other things and it was done! I had most of it done a couple weeks ago but I needed some pictures from this year to complete it.

I'm looking forward to seeing if Little Yellow Bicycle will come out with some other really fun books like this!

I love these pics on the back cover ~ Shaina is so serious and Carl is clowing around!

Easter Door Hanger (Card Patterns)

I used this week's card patterns sketch to make an easter door hanger. Happy Easter, the grass, daffodil, and egg were cut using the cricut easter 2010 cartridge. The bunny is one of my favorite quickutz die cuts!
Have a great day!

card patterns #52 - Retirement Card

A woman at work is retiring and she loves purses so I decided to do a non-traditional retirement card. I used paper from the DCWV Whimsy stack. Enjoy is cricut graphically speaking and the purse is from cricut paisley (it actually has more layers but I decided to "bling it out" a bit.
The pearls I got from Yvonne Yam in a RAC. Thanks Yvonne. This is the 2nd time I've used them. I made a really cool wedding card with them back at the first of February (with this same paper). Loving them!

Great News!!! I made the top 15 at Pink Elephant (TWICE!!!)!!!

I got it for Challenge #50 (Sketch) with the Get Well card for Lisa and Challenge #51 (Ribbon, Bow, Pink) for a Valentine Card. Very cool! I was just getting discouraged about never getting recognized for my work and now twice!!

2 Sketches 4 You ~ St. Pat's Day Door Hanger

I decided to make Kazan's sketch #46 into a St. Patty's Day door hanger. I got this really cool green sparkly paper at Michaels (My Mind's Eye, Home) and used that for all my pieces of patterned paper. The clover is from the cricut cartridge "indy art." I believe st. patrick's day is from the designer calendar cricut cartridge. The little leprechaun is a quickutz original (I'd actually cut a bunch of them out years ago and hadn't used them all ~ there are so many pieces I bet I wouldn't have had the patience today to do it anyway!).
Hope you are all having an enjoyable weekend! It is beautiful and sunny in Oregon!
