Card*A*Licious 11!

Card*A*Licious 11 this week was to use a journaling card, orange, and green. I had purchased this journaling spiral and Cloe's closet paper from Making Memories at Michael's last week and it was just perfect to use for this challenge!. I actually made 2. On the first one, I even tried an accordian flower. Here is the tutorial: http://destampincorner.blogspot.com/2009/01/accordion-flower-tutorial.html
All the rest of the die cuts on the card are from quickutz (love you is a cookie cutter).

On the 2nd one I used technique tuesday stamps for "beautiful day". The flowers are primas but even the brads are from the cloe's closet line!
Hope everyone is having a great week! Tomorrow is friday!

2 Sketches 4 You ~ Week of 1/26/09

This is the last week for the current design team for 2 Sketches 4 You ~ soon there will be a new one. Rae got to do the bonus sketch and it was very cool! She consistently posted comments to everyone's cards all during her term on the design team. I'm going to miss her! I'll start off with showing you my card for her sketch!

I used the Making Memories Sabrina papers. I had seen someone else use them in a sketch and when I saw them at Michael's I had to have them (with a 50% off coupon they were even sweeter!). The stamp in the middle is a Teresa Collins stamp that I got at Scrapbook.com. The little cupid is a quickutz cookie cutter. The black rhinestones are Kaiser. There is a black mesh flower underneath the primas. Scrapperlicious.blogspot has some tips about mesh and I tried it on a card last weekend (see the post underneath this one) and it turned out very cool!

Here is Rae's Sketch!

It was Laura's turn to do the regular sketch and I chose to use Making Memories Sabrina again! I had gotten the cute little journaling cards that went with it and this one was shaped round so it worked very well for the sketch. The B and mine are technique tuesday stamps. The hat pin is also Making Memories but from the valentine paper. I've been wanting to try putting one in a card for awhile. Don't know if it is exactly how it is supposed to be! The heart is cut with the sizzix tipsy heart die and it is on pop dots so it stands out a bit. And here is Laura's Sketch 18:

Hopefully I will have more time to create this week, so stop by again!

2 Sketches 4 You Design Team Application Cards/Cardalicious 9/Some New Techniques!

I had an awesome time yesterday with my friends, Bonnie and Gail. While I didn't get my calendar finished, it is close! We are talking about getting together in 2 weeks so I could for sure finish it then!

I've made a few cards in the last few days! The first one "I love you every day" was for the bonus of group of the January card challenge at Scrapbook.com. You were supposed to do some techniques from Scrapperlicious' blog under tips and tricks. This is the first time I've tried things like mesh with the flowers (it is underneath the flowers), extreme distressing (you punch holes in stuff), making that little notebook page look torn out. I was really freaking about punching holes in good stuff but now I am really pleased with how it turned out. I used cosmo cricket christmas paper (my sister, Teresa and I both got this free bunch of cosmo cricket on the day after thanksgiving when we went shopping!). The love stamp and the notebook are both Teresa Collins (I love how her stamps stamp well and clean up so nice!), the clock is a Maya Road stamp. I had those cool buttons that I put on the flowers and the fan in my stash (when I was buying tons of buttons and then never used any!). I really branched out on this one and I'm glad I did!

These next 2 cards are ones I did using Laura's design team application sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. I submitted "my dear." As you can see from an earlier post, I worked on several for this sketch and it was a little hard to make my decision on which one but with the help of my sister, Teresa who does awesome work (Tsscrappinblog.blogspot.com) and her friend Donna, I picked the dear card. Donna, if you are out there, THANKS!!! Someday I hope to meet you! The sweetheart card uses doilies that I picked up at Target and Party City, Ribbon from Michael's, Bo Bunny paper from a previous year, and the candy hears are cut with quickutz.

"My Dear" uses October Afternoon patterned paper, the dear is a revolution (borrowed from my friend Jennifer), and the words are with letter stickers. This one also qualifies for Cardalicious 9 which was to use letter stickers, say "for you", and have green on it! I'm just a week late with it! The heart and grass are sizzix originals.

And here is the sketch, which as you can see I am absolutely in love with!

"Thank You Friend" is for Kazan's Design Team Sketch. I thought about this one quite awhile and finally landed on this card! The patterned paper is Me and My Big Ideas. Friend is cut with the cricut Mini-Monograms cartridge, the birds are quickutz revolution. I had gotten the foam/sparkly crowns from Michaels around halloween!

Here is Kazan's Sketch! Does it look like it?

Shaina cut her leg at her dad's today falling off the tree fort onto a chain link fence. She had to get 4 stitches but she is better now. I took pictures of the stitches with my camera phone so her brother could see them! Last weekend she lost her cell phone and some stole it so I had to cut off the service and order a new phone (thank goodness I bought the insurance!). And yesterday, while my parents were visiting my other sister in California, their car got broken into and my mom's purse got stolen! I hope the next week goes better for everyone!

A couple cards to share!

I haven't done the Card-A-Licious Challenge for a few weeks so here is my card for it. The cardalicious challenge 10 was to use a circle (this paper has lots of circles - dots are circles, right? and there are circles in the square), a flower, and something sparkly (w of the flowers are sparkly!). Patterned paper is Me and My Big Ideas, the square is cut with the mini-monograms cricut cartridge, thanks is from the cricut stamped cartridge.

I've been toying with the idea of applying for the 2 Sketches 4 You design team (applications are due tomorrow night at midnight mountain time). Both Laura and Kazan do a sketch and to apply you need to do a card for each. I made several versions for Laura's sketch ~ here are 2. I e-mailed pictures of the some of them and she and her friend helped me decide which one to use (I will show it off later!). I love the internet ~ who would have thought that people in Houston can help me Oregon make that decision! Love it!

Thanks uses pattern paper from Me and My Big Ideas, Thanks cut from the cricut stamped cartridge. Flourish is a quickutz revolution.

The 2nd card is an 11 year old birthday card that either my daughter can use for a birthday party (she will be 11 and all her friends are turning 11). She loves it when the card says the age on it. The paper is from my stash. Happy Birthday is a quickutz revolution and the "1" candles are 2 X 2 Quickutz. The patterned paper is from my stash.

With the help of my friend Gertie from work, we finished the scrapbook for my boss. It turned out great and everyone was quite impressed. Now I'm ready to tackle getting the 2009 calendar and album done for my parents and then move on to finish something else!!!

2 Sketches 4 You Week of 1/19/09

This week was Kazan's turn at 2 Sketches 4 You. I really enjoy seeing each week's sketch but I had a hard time figuring out what to do! I had originally thought that since Monday was a holiday I'd get it done Monday but nothing came to me! Then yesterday my Mini-Monograms cartridge was delivered and I cut out this cute square and then went from there!!

The patterned paper on this card is from the DCWV Glitter Stack - I love the bling! The "U" is also from the Mini-Monograms Cricut Cartridge! The hearts are a Sizzix Original - Heart Border. The cute little "love" charm I found in the wedding section at Michael's (I walked down that row because another row was busy and there they were!).

So, even though I was having trouble with Kazan's sketch, I thought of even more ideas for Laura's sketch from last week! I have been busy all weekend making a scrapbook for my boss (he is leaving after Friday for another job). While I was making it, I was using the revolution die for small album pages (I'm putting them on some of the pages for people to sign and write things to him). All of sudden it hit me how those little album pages could have been used on Laura's sketch so here are a couple new cards for the sketch! The teacher card uses DCWV paper from the Fall Stack from either 2006 or 2007 (I mixed up the paper!). All the die cuts on it are from the quickutz revolution!

I used the album page again on Love Notes. The heart is a sizzix original, the flower is a sizzix original cut out of felt. And the love is a sizzlet. The paper is Cloud 9 that I got a couple years ago.

This Saturday, I'm getting together with my 2 good friends Gail and Bonnie to scrap! I'm very excited because we haven't all 3 gotten together for almost a year! Gail has a quickutz exclusive die she ordered for me last February and I haven't gotten it yet! Bonnie is planning chili for lunch and something with chicken for dinner. I need to bring some snacks! I'm also taking my cricut to show them as they have not seen one in action. My goal is to finish the 2009 calendar for my parents that I started before Christmas as a Christmas present. I've been giving them one each year along with an album with extra pages - then I have them put the calendar pages in the album so they have a little album of my kids each year. They haven't been home much since the first of the year so they wouldn't even be enjoying it so not so bad that I'm late!

We will see if I get it done! Take care and have a great rest of the week!

2 Sketches 4 You ~ Week of 1/12/09

This week it was Laura's turn to do the sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. I've really been into making shaker boxes so I immediately saw a shaker box in the square on the right side! I'm still making valentines for the food drive at work so I made a couple here!

The first 2 cards use a black and white embossed paper that I got at Michael's on clearance. The ribbon and the love charm are also from Michaels! I used a sizzix frame to make the shaker box (see splitcoaststampers.com for a great tutorial!). The Valentine words in the backgroud are from reginascutterdesigns.blogspot.com - I've used them several times and they are so cool! Especially as backgrounds for shadow boxes. For the card with the

black frame I used some embellishments that I had actually cut out last year when I was on a roll make valentine cards. They came in handy. For the card with the red frame, I used some felt and cut out flowers with the sizzix! I'm really liking the felt thing!

I had cut out a lot of little quickutz owls a couple weeks ago and found this cut "who loves you" stamp at Craft Warehouse. They just seemed to go together! The background paper was also on clearance at Michaels. I had originally thought I would use the paper for my dad's birthday card but it makes a cute non-traditional colored valentine! I don't know what it is about owls but they are so stinkin' cute!

The last card I made (I can't believe I made 4 but I was on a roll!) is for my dad's birthday! The paper is Bohemian and is 2 sided so the frame and the background are from the same paper. I made the background of the shaker box myself. I just put in all kinds of 77's in wordprocessing software and changed the fonts and sizes. The 77 candles are from the quickutz release. Wish is also a quickutz from awhile back. The white flourish is a quicktutz revolution. My dad's birthday is in February so it is cool I have it done. The only problem I have is I don't know when he will get it because they are traveling to warm climates right now and don't know where they will be!

My sister, Teresa (tsscrappinblog.blogspot.com) did her card for dad last week with the sketch! It's totally cool we are both done!

It is has been quite a busy and exciting week! My boss is leaving and I was asked to do his job in an "acting" capacity until about the end of June. I'm very excited! Been busy at work making lists of stuff to deal with before he leaves and after he leaves and all kinds of stuff! It was so nice tonight to relax and do some cards!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great time till I see you again!

2 Sketches 4 You Week of 1-5-09 (Times 2!)

I've already posted some cards for the 2 Sketches 4 You Sketches this week but I had so many ideas (I actually have more but running out of time!). I was helping my son with a school project and we had the Going Places Cricut Cartridge out and we made a compass for him. I had remembered a card from a Papercrafts Magazine 2 years ago that had a valentine that said you are my true north so that compass started this idea! The paper on the left is DCWV Far East Stack and the right side is DCWV Old World Stack. True is Cricut Base Camp and North is Cricut Jasmine. The ribbon I got on one of the little spools at Michaels.

This tag actually started out as a card but then it just looked better being a tag (using the bonus sketch this week!). I found this cool saying on a card that was on scrapbook.com by TheScrapLady - she had a stamp but I just typed in my computer and then cut with a sizzix tag. The blue background paper is DCWV Old World Stack. The circle is a quickutz revolution cookie cutter and the little bubble stickers I got on clearance at Michaels (they are Colorbok).

Thanks for taking a look! I'm off to shopping with my parents for most of the day. Going to get my dad's birthday present (without him finding out hopefully) and going to the outlet mall (hopefully find some clearance cool clothes for my kids!) and maybe to Ruby Tuesdays up in Portland (I've never been there!). Can't wait to see next weeks sketches!

2 Sketches 4 You week of 1-5-09 (Kazan 17 and Peet Bonus Sketch)

I started out the week getting most of these done monday evening after work with more ideas brewing BUT my son got sick, my parents came to town, and it has been a busy week at work. If I get some more done I will post them later this week!

My first one is for Kazan's sketch 17. I don't have a lot of "wavy" type things so I did some ribbon (very loose interpretation of this sketch, I know!). I had just gotten this cute little daisy bucket stamp at my local scrapbook store and had these little lady bug buttons in my stash. I thought that they teamed up with the flowers and the stamp and would make a cute valentine card for a young girl! The flower is a quickutz revolution cookie cutter. I'm really into the black and white look so I used that again! I feel like I'm a broken record (some of you younger people probably don't know what a record is!). Hopefully, I'll break out of this black and white rut sometime soon!

Peet did the bonus sketch this week and I thought it was so cute. Here I am using black and white again! The background paper is from the DCWV Glitter Stack, and the valentine words are a printable stamp from reginascutterdesigns.blogspot.com (I've used them a bunch in my previous post with shakers! They are very fun). The heart is a quickutz revolution cookie cutter. Love is a sizzlet. The i, heart, and u are cut with sizzix originals (metallic paper on chipboard) and pinned them on the ribbon with a safety pin. The flower is felt also cut with a sizzix original ~ I'm loving that too ~ I've never tried it until now!

Thanks for taking a peek!

Shaker Fun!!!

I got these cool Holiday Big Words Printable Stamps from Reginascutterdesigns.blogspot.com. Then at Scrapbook.com one of the card challenges was to make a shaker. I had never made a shaker so I checked out the tutorial at Split Coast Stampers. They were so much fun that I made several! I used sizzix frames for the frame and in a couple cases I used chipboard under them. Here they are:

The background is Holiday Big Words from Reginascutterdesigns.blogspot.com, lips and swak are quickutz dies and "swak" is quickutz blossom mini. Striped pattern paper is from either the 2007 or 2008 DCWV spring stack (I tore the paper out and put it with all my valentine paper!) Flower is a prima and the brad is from creative cafe.

Bee Mine also uses quickutz blossom mini for the words. The flowers were cut with one of the sizzix stacked flower dies using felt (this time was my first time to cut out felt too! I've tried lots of things this weekend!). The bees are buttons that I've had in my stash for quite awhile. This is the same DCWV patterned paper!

The tickets on this shaker were made with a quickutz die and then stamped with autumn leaves stamps! The black and white polka dot is bo bunny paper and so is the flowered paper (I got it either last year or the year before around v-day!). The flowered paper was cut with the sizzix jelly frame. The flower is another felt one cut with a sizzix die.The I, heart, and U were cut with sizzix dies (metallic paper on chipboard) and then attached with a safety pin.

The same paper combination and felt flowers cut with sizzix were used with the "Love" frame. Love was cut with a sizzlet.

The last one is a New Years Shaker (I think I'll put it on my office door!). The background is a Holiday Printable Stamp from Reginascutterdesigns.blogspot.com and so is the little saying in the corner. I used a gold leafing pen around the little saying. Polka Dot paper is Bo Bunny and the black patterned paper is DCWV Glitter Stack. I added a shiny prima flower!
Thanks for taking a look!

More Valentines!

In February most State of Oregon employees participate in the Governor's Food Drive. One of the things we do in my office is to sell Valentine's. So I'll be making alot (and probably posting alot) so that I have them done and ready to sell!

Over at Scrapbook.com the January Card Challenges include one using black as the primary color and a sketch. The first 2 cards here are for those challenges. I have been using up some rubons from K and Company that I bought when I did a wedding book for my parents for their 50th anniversary 2 years ago! And I have lots of scraps of black and white! And the red fiber I used on my christmas cards. I feel pretty good about using up some things!

The next 2 valentines were inspired by a valentine I saw by Michele Kovak (I think at the Bitten by the Bug website). She used a circle in the middle and different embellishments. I saw these paper doilies in the $1 section of Target and bought some to use for cards. I cut the flowers out of felt with my sizzix and used some valentine paper in my statsh from cloud 9. The tickets were cut with a quickutz die and stamped with autumn leaves stamps. I'm still not sure the colors are quite right so I'll play around with some other versions!
