2 Sketches 4 You Bonus Sketch for week of Nov 24, 2008

I was so excited to do a card for Hanneke's sketch. I love bracket cards! I made this card for my sister who just came to visit after many years. This card is also really special because she told me how cool the Cricut was and we went to Michael's on Thanksgiving Day at 6 pm and I bought the last Cricut Create they had! She said it was a great price and I would love it! So the many thanks and the accent were cut with my new cricut!!! All the patterned paper is Basic Grey Boxer. Thanks for taking a peek!

2 sketches 4 You week of Nov 24, 2008 (Kazan sketch 14), things I am Thankful 4, and a get well card

For some reason, Kazan's sketch this week made me think of water and clouds so I made the rectangle into an above and below the ground! These didn't turn out to be my best work, but here they are. I used paper and die cuts from my stash so I was very happy about that!
I do really like how this get well card turned out for my friend Bonnie. She had knee replacement surgery this week and I went to visit her in the hospital. She is doing really good!
Kazan asked everyone to tell 5 things they were thankful for so here goes:
1. Family! I was very lucky this week to have my sister come visit from Texas (along with my parents) for Thanksgiving. I hadn't seen her for 12 years and my kids had not met her so it was very exciting for all of us. We had an awesome visit! My parents are always wonderful to see and as an adult, I feel like I'm closer to them then ever. I recently got unlimited texting for my kids and myself and was happily surprised that 2 of the people they want to text are my other sister and her daughter (their cousin) in California. I never thought texting would have that affect!
2. My Beautiful Children! I know they are family but they are the most special part of my family. I learn new things every day from them so besides loving them a ton, they open my eyes to things I never would have thought about.
3. My career/job! I have been so lucky to have a rewarding career for the last 25 years and plan to work for a long time! I feel like every day I'm still growing and changing and learning. In fact, a week ago, I wrote all the people who work for me about thankfulness! Very timely!
4. My health! I am very lucky that I'm healthy!
5. Scrapbooking and Cardmaking! I think having a creative outlet makes me healthier, happier and helps me not get stressed out from work. I've always had a career that was very detail-oriented ~ accounting and now management/administration and you can only get so creative or you have problems. But I think deep down I like colors and creativity and need this!
I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving week!

Card-A-Licious 6 and Birthday Card for a Special Friend!

One of my special friends, Jennifer, had her birthday on November 20. Here is a card I made her! The calendar stamp is from Imaginisce. The die cut letters are actually the original serif letters I got with my sizzix years and years ago. The patterned paper is basic grey. The lacy edge was cut with a fiskars punch. The flourish is a quickutz revolution die. The rhinestones are Kaiser.

Aloha is for the 3 circles challenge this week on Card-A-Licious. You were to make a card with at least 3 circles. This was a really fun challenge!
Thanks for taking a look!

2 Sketches 4 You for week of November 17 - Laura's Sketch 13 and Kristen Bonus Sketch

This is my 2nd take on Laura's Sketch 13 (for the week of November 17). The other one and a copy of the sketch are below the bonus sketch. I'm new at this blogging thing and can't figure out how to move this!!! The dinosaur is a sizzix die I have for some time and I cut it out of this cool green paper that looks kind of like rough skin! Perfect for a dinosaur! The green leaves are Basic Grey Dinosaur stamps with stickles on top. The words are cut with quickutz eliza mini and sophisticate. The paper was from my stash!

Kristen did the bonus sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You this week. I don't know why it got me thinking about the 4th of July but it did. I have lots of paper that coordinated so this was fun. I also found some Me and My Big Ideas stickers that I've had for a long time that had the God Bless America song - made a great border for the card. The fire cracker is sizzix die cut that I've had for a long time too! If feels good to use things in my stash!

And here is my first attempt at Laura's Sketch. I used a sizzix that I've had for awhile to do the santa head. I used DCWV glitter paper to give him some interest! Santa's eyebrows have stickles on them! I actually got my old chalk with Q-Tips out to give him the rosy cheeks and nose! The other die cuts and the stamp are from the quickutz revolution 2008 holiday gift set. Love it! The paper is from Me and My Big Ideas. And the brad - love that Santa Rocks - is Around the Block. I had a great time doing this one!

2 Sketches 4 You Kazan's Sketch Week of Nov 10, 2008 and the Card-A-Licious Challenge of the week

The Card-A-Licious Challenge this week was to make a card out of a file folder. I used a regular file folder and cut it down to the size of a 6 X 6 card and then covered it with paper. The paper is Basic Grey "Boxer." For some reason when I thought of the file folder, I thought of work and then bosses day (it is in October so we just had it). My boss is a man and I usually have problems thinking up masculine card ideas so thought this challenge would be the perfect opportunity!!! Just think, this may be the card I give him next year and it is already made. Maybe I will think of something better during the year but if I don't, I'm saving myself time in Oct 09.

Here is my take on 2 Sketches 4 You, Kazan's Sketch 13. It was really a fun card to put together! The patterned paper is all from the Me and My Big Ideas Christmas Stack that I just got at Michael's (with a 50% coupon!), Joy is from one of the original sizzix alphabets. The earth is a quickutz, the round circle is cut from a revolution cookie cutter and stamped with a Daisy Bucket Stamp. The bird is cut from a sizzlet (the paper is sparkly), the corners are quickutz, and the flourish is a revolution die. The blue felt ribbon is creative imaginations.

Thanks for taking a look at all these!

Some fun cards to share!

Some of these cards are for the November Card Challenge at Scrapbook.com (I'm Tamaroo over there). The pink and black "You Rock" uses the grid technique (you can find the tutorial at splitcoaststampers.com) under the guitar (hard to see it). This was the bonus challenge where they gave us a scrapbook layout that you needed to downscale to a card. It was very hard to get all the goodies on it!!! The blue and brown "Thinking of You" card is one I made to sell for our food drive ~ a manager wanted to give several people a card and gift to motivate them. I made a few of these because any money to help the food drive is awesome!!!

The "You Rock ~ Princess" Card and "Happy Turkey Day" were also made for the scrapbook.com November Card Challenge. These were also a "sketch" and I had a lot of fun doing them. I'm really starting to like sketches as it is making me grow!

The "Thankful" card was one I also made several of. My daughter sold frozen pastries for an orchestra fund raiser and I always make my kids write thank you notes to everyone who buys them. Then they for sure want to buy the next year!
This last card is a "stair step/accordian" card (tutorial at splitcoaststampers.com) ~ I made these to send to friends and relatives around halloween. I love how it turned out!
Thanks for looking!

2 Sketches 4 You ~ Laura's Sketch ~ Week of Nov 3, 2008

I had an idea for the sketch ~ sugarplums dancing ~ but it just didn't work out very well so I did the fall card. I like it alot better. I also like using some of the non-traditional colors for fall, like purple!
Thanks for taking a look!

Cards for 2 Sketches 4 You Design Team

I had not posted these cards anywhere. I didn't get on the design team (there were way more talented people) but it really helped me to think outside the box! The "fall" card was for Kazan's Sketch. And the Halloween card was for Laura's Sketch.
